Jan Wilker was born in 1972 in Germany. Prior graduating from the State Academy of Art and Design in Stuttgart, where he studied from 1996-2001, he ran his own studio in Ulm. He moved to New York in 2000. In the same year, together with Hjalti Karlsson, he founded their own studio based in Manhattan, working on all sorts of projects for an eclectic mix of cultural and commercial clients including Guggenheim Museum, MoMA, Puma, MTV, The New York Times and Good Magazine. In 2003, they published Tellmewhy – a book about their first two years in business. They have won numerous awards, and their work appeared in all major national and international design publications, and was shown in exhibitions at MoMA, Ningbo Museum of Art and Design China, and the Reykjavik Design Museum.
